First Lutheran Church is a member congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, the largest Lutheran denomination in the United States.  

Since its beginning in 1947, First Lutheran has sought to be a warm and inviting place where people in the Lafayette, LA area can draw closer to the mercy and love of God in Jesus Christ.   

God has blessed First Lutheran with an excellent staff, an active Sunday School for all ages, an on-site school providing a quality educational experience for students from pre-kindergarten through 4^th grade, and most importantly, a diverse and faithful membership that strives to see God's will done.   

This web site cannot adequately describe the many and various ministries happening at First Lutheran, but we hope that reviewing this site may pique your desire to worship with us on Saturday evening or Sunday morning and perhaps become a part of this Christian community.
